Accelerated Reader
Arroyo is happy to be able to continue the online Accelerated Reader program. Accelerated Reader (AR) Renaissance Place (RP) Edition is the nation's leading reading management program used in more than 57,000 schools. Since 1986, AR has helped hundreds of thousands of teachers inspire teacher-led "reading revolutions" in their classrooms. AR provides educators timely, accurate information on student academic performance. Teachers can use this information to quickly adjust instruction to help all students reach their greatest potential.
This user friendly program gives Arroyo students access to 110,000 quizzes. Not only does this increase the number of books with AR quizzes available online at Arroyo to almost 600, but it allows students to read books from the public library and from home.
This program gives students and parents the ability to search for AR books and check AR book levels from home. You may also use your home computer to view a list of Arroyo library books which have AR quizzes. Below are easy to use instructions for the AR BookFinder website.

Grade level participation in AR:
UTK and Kindergarten will not participate in AR as they are learning the basics of reading elements such as sounds that are associated to the letters and letter names.
1st-2nd Grades: Students will set goals that are associated with their learning of phonic skills. Students will read decodable books to help strengthen these skills. Their goals will consist of how many books they master. As the year progresses and skills strengthen, students will move to books listed on AR that they can take quizzes on the content to show comprehension.
3rd-6th Grades: Students will set goals to match the points that each book they read is worth. Book points can be found in AR BookFinder.
AR Assemblies:
We will acknowledge each students goal progress as they meet their monthly goals at our Friday Assembly - this will be on the LAST Friday of each month. Students will have until the Wednesday of that week to take quizzes to count towards that month - quizzes taken after that Wednesday will count towards the following month. All AR points are cumulative - students will be acknowledged at the following levels:
