Principal's Message

Welcome to Arroyo Elementary!

The Arroyo learning community strives to prepare our students to be leaders in their school, their community and their world.  We believe that children are born with an innate curiosity to understand their world and we hope that their learning experiences here at Arroyo will encourage and stimulate that curiosity.

Arroyo Elementary School is committed to providing all students an enriched integrated academic curriculum to educate the whole child. Students are provided opportunities to learn the skills of leadership and apply them in their daily school life. We believe our FLAGS (Foreign Language, Academics, Global Studies) program will provide opportunities to expose students to foreign languages early  in their lives that will give them access to the world around them through Global Studies. Ongoing technology training and integration will assist our students to prepare to be "Connected to the World."

Because children learn through experiences, we try to link educational goals with hands on learning projects. Math skills can be taught through real life experiences with art, science, and music. Reading skills can grow from experiences with drama, poetry and non-fiction research material. Physical fitness can integrate athletic skills with timing, measurement, team-building and organization. Additional supports and supplemental extensions for reading and math are provided through our intervention and Title I programs. Learning can be relevant, rigorous and FUN!

We cannot succeed without working together with the parents on common goals. Our Handbook describes behavioral and academic expectations for all students. We have an active PTA that works closely with staff to provide an enriched program. Parents are invited to volunteer in classrooms everyday. Arroyo is a fun, involved center for learning.
